Location based mobile vehicle finder

Vospers is the South West’s largest independent motor dealership, with a turnover in excess of £350m and some 700 employees.

Research by pulse8 and Vospers had demonstrated that, typical with many industries, the numbers of mobile users accessing the website was growing month on month and that those users wanted quick and easy way access to key content. 

The existing website had not been built to cater for a largely mobile audience and so pulse8 created a dedicated mobile website that provided a far better user experience. The mobile site we built was content managed from the same CMS that fed the main site.

Whilst working with Vospers the marketing team highlighted a deficiency in their ability to track the postcodes of customers that were performing online searches for cars. This would enable them to work out how effective the website was and whether someone had converted a search into a sale.

With some back-end work on the existing website a customer now types in their postcode to view cars geographically and then if a purchase is made a few weeks later the postcodes will come together in the system and provide useful statistical data that can be plotted on a map. This can be converted into marketable statistics such as ‘the number of people that search for Ford’ in a certain area versus others.
